FOOD JUNCTION OPENS NEW DUAL-CONCEPT FOOD
COURT IN JAKARTA
SINGAPORE, 16 Sep 2009 - Mainboard-listed
Food Junction Holdings Limited ("Food
Junction" or "the Group"), which
manages and operates 17 food courts in Singapore,
Malaysia, Indonesia and China, today announced
the opening of FJ Square, a 24,000 square-feet
food court in Pluit Village, a mega shopping mall
located in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The 20-stall food court, FJ Square,
features two different dining concepts - a Singapore
Food Street and a Rasa Sayang Street. Occupying
half of the food court, each food street features
the distinct flavour and signature delights of
its local cuisine. For instance, one can savour
classic Singapore fare such as char kway teow,
laksa and chicken rice amongst the ten stalls
on the Singapore Food Street, while traditional
Indonesian dishes throng the Rasa Sayang Street.
Designed by a renowned Japanese interior design
firm, who also revamped many of the Group's existing
food courts, such as The Food Place
at Raffles City Shopping Centre in Singapore,
FJ Square's interior boasts a stylish
modern décor with a lifestyle concept.
FJ Square is Food Junction's second
food court in Indonesia, but its first in a shopping
mall. The Group's first food court is located
in a university campus. Pluit Village, a five-storey
shopping mall previously known as Megamal Pluit,
is located in North Jakarta and surrounded by
highly-populated mid to high-end residential estates,
with a majority of ethnic Chinese. The mall is
also strategically located within close proximity
to major roads. Positioned as a mid-market, regional
mall, it offers an extensive selection of shopping,
dining and leisure options, with anchor tenants
such as Best Denki, Fitness First and Cinema 21.
Said Mr John Chang, Food Junction's Executive
Director, "We are very pleased with this
new concept at FJ Square. Not only
does it give us the opportunity to infuse Food
Junction's unique lifestyle dining experiences,
it also allows us to showcase the distinct Singapore
cuisine to other parts of the region. This dual-concept
has been well-received by our customers, judging
by the crowd when we officially opened it last
Saturday. We also received positive feedback from
both the local Indonesian community and Singapore
travellers - the locals were pleased that we have
introduced delectable Singapore food to them,
while the tourists from Singapore were glad to
find familiar home-grown dishes even when overseas.
We are confident that the food court will enjoy
a strong traffic flow and garner a huge following,
given Pluit Village's strategic location and extensive
lifestyle offerings."
Apart from its 17 food courts in Singapore and
the region, Food Junction also operates 63 food
and beverage stalls in these food courts. As part
of its strategy to enhance consumers' dining experiences,
the Group has upgraded some of its existing food
courts into lifestyle food courts with wider menu
choices.
Aside from food courts, Food Junction also owns
restaurants such as Malone's American Cafés
in Shanghai, which they acquired in October 2008;
and TETSU, a Japanese restaurant
located at Singapore's Tanglin Mall. It also owns
and operates the premium gift boutique, kokoro,
at Singapore's Great World City.
About Food Junction Holdings Limited

operates 63 F&B stalls, out of the 256 stalls
in the Group's food court business.
As a food court management specialist, Food Junction
manages the operational aspects of its food courts,

its food courts and introduces new F&B concepts.
The Group has since moved into restaurant operations
with the opening of its first Japanese restaurant

Malone's American Café, a Shanghai-based
restaurant chain. The Group also operates a premium
